Sunset on the Zambezi

We've been in Zambia for almost four weeks now, and as humbling and rewarding as our work is, it's time for a little break. This weekend we're off to Livingstone for a few days of site seeing, relaxation and adventure in the tourist capital of Zambia.
The bus ride from Lusaka to Livingstone takes an average of eight hours and is all on unfinished roads, infested with potholes. Fortunately, we were on a bigger, private bus with a little more legroom. Don't be mistaken, this does not compare to the stagecoach bus from St Andrews to Edinburgh or even Stirling. No! Just picture 20 people (and luggage) shoved into a vehicle of proportions slightly larger than that nine seater taxi you take home from the airport when you have too much luggage. After about eight and a half hours, with only one stop for the restroom, we finally made it to our hostel.
The hostel was beautifully decorated with colorful chetenges and mosaics, which lined the insides of the rooms as well as the bathrooms, outdoor lounges, bar and pool areas.
We had a quick turnover upon arrival, as we had to make it to the river boat for the sunset cruise on the Zambezi river. We all went from groggy traveler to well-groomed and dressed up individuals within a thirty minute period. It is definitely weird wearing and seeing everyone in normal clothes, regardless of how seemingly casual they are.
